Founder of FLIP
S. Bruce “Olamina” Stevenson, founder of FLIP – Foundation for Leadership, Independence and Progress, carries forward a powerful legacy of building, mentoring, and uplifting community. Following in the footsteps of his late father, Stanley L. "Steve" Stevenson, a builder and developer of major commercial, hospital, school, and real estate projects, Bruce continues the family tradition
of craftsmanship and service. Through his work as owner of Hunny Do, LLC, a trusted
Baltimore home improvement company, and through decades of mentoring underserved
youth and men, Bruce has dedicated his life to construction — not only of homes, but of
leaders, entrepreneurs, and empowered communities.
Affectionately known as “Olamina,” Bruce was given this name over 30 years ago after
completing his own rites of passage initiation. Olamina means "one who brings
honor to his mother"— a sacred reminder of his duty to uphold the values, strength, and love passed down from his parents. Every act of service, every youth mentored, and every home restored through FLIP stands as a prayer that he honors the legacy of both his father and mother, whose guidance shaped his path.
